The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APSC) is a body created by the Constitution of India as per provisions relating to Public Service Commission, as laid down in Chapter-II of Part-XIV of the Constitution. APSC is headquartered at New R&B Building, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh 520010. The APPSC came into existence on 1 st November 1956.

    Governor of Andhra Pradesh appoints the Chairman and Members of the Commission. All the members of the commission including the Chairman can serve the commission for a maximum period of six years or till he/she attains the age of 62 years whichever is earlier.

    The current Chairman of APSC is Prof. P. Udaya Bhaskar.

    APPSC Jobs: History of APPSC

    The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission came into existence on 1st November 1956 with the formation of the State of Andhra Pradesh. Prior to this, there was Andhra Public Service Commission which came into existence only in 1953 and Hyderabad Public Service Commission in the Andhra State and Hyderabad State respectively.

    The A.P. Public Service Commission was constituted with a Chairman and 3 Members. With increasing work load, the strength of the Commission was enhanced to a Chairman and 5 Members in the year 1981 and later to Chairman and 7 Members in the year 1983. The Andhra Pradesh Government again reviewed the strength in 1994 and enhanced it to Chairman and 9 Members. This is the present strength of the APPSC also.

    APPSC Jobs: Functions of APPSC

    The Public Service Commissions had been established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India and the functions of the Commission are enumerated in the Article 320 of the Constitution.

    Government of Andhra Pradesh consults APPSC In all matters relating to the recruitment of civil services and other posts of the Government as per Article 320, Part XIV of the Constitution of India. The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission discharges the duties and functions as specified in its Regulations. As such, the statutory functions of the APPSC are as follows:

    1.Direct Recruitment (Article 320 (1))

    2.Recruitment by transfer ( Article 320(3)(b))

    3.Statutory rules relating to services ( Article 320 (3)(a) & (b) )

    4.Disciplinary cases ( Article320 (3)(c) and regulations 17 (1)(a) to (e) )

    5. Reimbursement of legal expenses (Article 320 (3)(d))

    6.Wound and extraordinary pension cases ( Article 320 (3) (e))

    Apart from the above mentioned functions, the Commission is also entrusted with the following items of work:

    1.Conduct of Departmental Tests for several departments.

    2.Conduct of examination for admission to RIMC, Dehradun.

    3.Conduct of Half yearly examination for IAS and IPS Officers and proficiency tests for AIS Officers.

    4.Watching of temporary appointments exceeding 3 months and according concurrence for their continuance (regulation 16).

    5. Consultation in cases of appointment of contract extending over 5 years (regulation 16)

    APPSC Jobs – How to Apply Online

    There are two steps for applying to any APPSC exam.

    Step-1: One-Time-Profile Registration (OTPR), which is a one time profile creation for the candidate who wants to apply for the first time, and

    Step-2: Online Application Submission, where the candidate can apply for different jobs as and when notified by the APPSC.

    • Go to www.appsc.gov.in
    • Click on the OTPR link given on the right side on the APPSC homepage

    • On the page that opens up, click on New Registration for Direct Recruitment.

    • On the page that opens up, click on New Registration for Direct Recruitment.
    • Enter the following information in relevant fields:
      • Your Aadhaar Details
      • Your Basic Details
      • Your Address Details
      • Your Educational Qualifications
      • Your recent Photo and Signature Upload
    • Review the entered information carefully and click on Submit.
    • On successful submission, the OTPR Reference Id will be generated and displayed on a screen. Once you get the Reference Id, you can log in and apply for an APPSC Job.
    • Go to www.appsc.gov.in and click on the “Online Application Submission” in the bottom right corner of the APPSC homepage

    • Click on the payment link next to the notification you want to apply for
    • The form will be pre-populated from the data you had given while registering for OTPR
    • Verify the details and fill the application-specific data
    • Submit the application and complete the payment process
    • After payment is successful, the payment reference id will be generated
    • Thereafter the candidate will have to fill the application form (most of the details will be filled from the OTPR data).
    • Now choose your examination centre, post preference etc.
    • Submit the form and take a print of the application receipt. You can use this and the application receipt for any future reference/correspondence.
